Sequence effects may occur in within-subjects designs,
because the
participants’ experience in one condition might
have an affect on their
response in subsequent conditions.
A good control is to counterbalance the order
of presentation
of the conditions. In counterbalancing, the order of
presentation
is systematically varied to reduce the influence of one condition
on another. If this is not clear, go back and check
counterbalancing in Chapter
11.
