The two types of distributions are quite different, although
both convey
similar information. A frequency distribution
shows each specific score.
However, a grouped frequency
distribution includes a range of scores in each
group rather than
each specific score. Thus, we cannot see the specific scores
in
the grouped frequency distribution--specific scores that are
needed in order
to construct a frequency distribution. We
would have to go back and look at the
original data. We can
convert a frequency distribution to a grouped
distribution,
without looking at original data, but not the other way around.
