Experimental research hypotheses are declarative
statements about the
expected causal relationship
among variables, but that is not because we have
high
confidence that they are true. Remember, the hypothesis
is a tentative
statement. Our confidence in it increases if
the research eventually supports it
and decreases if it does not.
