The F-ratio is interpreted in the same way in both designs.
But remember that
an ANOVA might include correlated
groups or independent groups. It may also test
pre-existing
groups, as in a differential design, or manipulated groups.
It is
when pre-existing groups are used that we must be
careful about how we interpret
