Computing a Spearman
Rank-Order Correlation

If one variable produces ordered data and the other variable produces score data, the appropriate correlation coefficient is the Spearman rank-order correlation. Technically, the Spearman correlation is between two ordered data variables, but it is always possible to convert score data to ordered data by rank ordering the scores. This process is demonstrated in the manual computational example.
